Why Krezl?
I. The Two Acts of Mind
Thinking is the act of finding central tendency in data.
It worked because the planet can be hostile to a cognitive organism. The act of your baby being eaten by a predator, especially when you gave blood and sweat to it, is too much for a cognitive system. So thinking developed. It buffered the load. Probability is its native math.
Thinking found centers in noisy data that mattered for survival. Where the berries are, across seasons and terrain. When the rains come. Which strangers are dangerous. Which plants heal and which kill. How to hunt the animal. The organism that centers on these eats and survives. The one that does not, does not. In each case the question is given by the body. Hunger states it. Thinking finds the center that answers it.
Intelligence is preverbal. It sits beneath thinking. Thinking is loud and intelligence is quiet and in most of the species intelligence lies dormant because thought drowns it out. The art of stating the problem belongs to intelligence, not to thinking. Direction stays with the organism, meaning the preverbal intelligence inside the organism, not the chatter on top of it.
There are two acts of mind. Act one is stating the problem. This is intelligence. It chooses what to center on. No aggregate replaces it. Act two is finding the center. This is thinking. The work is delegatable.
Confusion is collapsing act one into act two, or believing act two can substitute for act one.
II. The Buffer Becomes a Wall
Thinking worked, and it kept working in domains where it should not. This extension is the core of confusion.
Chaos sets the limit. Singular things, a marriage, a death, the particulars that are the thing itself, have no center to find. Variation is not noise around sameness in these cases. The variation is the thing. Thinking applied here is category error.
Thought has also isolated one from the world. The same operation that protected the cognitive organism from being overwhelmed by the planet placed a layer between the organism and the planet. The buffer became a wall. The organism that thinks about the berry is no longer eating the berry. The organism lives in its model more than in the world. The map eats the territory from the inside.
Intelligence is contact. It is the organism in unmediated relation to what is. Thinking is the mediation. When thought is loud, contact is lost. The species lives inside its own modeling and calls that living.
The singular things cannot be reached through thought because thought is the layer that prevents reaching. The variation that is the thing requires contact with the thing. Thinking about a marriage is not being in one. Thinking about a death is not meeting it.
Thinking worked, and the cost of it working was isolation from the world it was modeling. The buffer that saved the organism also sealed it.
III. Crowds, Machines, and the Revolution
Groups outperform experts because more independent samples find the center better. The wisdom survives in the crowd. The condition is independence. Envy breaks it. Once organisms sample each other instead of their own experience, the crowd stops being a crowd and becomes a correlated mass. The aggregate's advantage collapses. Markets, mobs, mimetic cascades are all this failure.
Once the organism is isolated from the world by thought, it has nothing to sample but other organisms doing the same thing. The independence that made the crowd wise is gone before envy even arrives. Envy is the late stage of an isolation that started with thought itself.
Machines are much better at thinking than humans because thinking is centering and machines center faster across more data. They scale thought. They do not access intelligence because intelligence is preverbal and machines are made of words and weights. Civilization, institutions, corpora, models, markets are aggregations that reach centers no individual reaches. AI is the most aggressive form of this. None of it substitutes for the organism's act of pointing.
Krezl is business liberation. It frees thinking from drudgery by letting the machine do the centering. Fundamental revolution is upstream. It requires intelligence, which lies dormant in almost the entire species because of the vehemence of thought. Krezl operates in the domain where thinking works. The revolution operates in the domain where thinking ends and intelligence begins.
